As of 28 October 2024 the Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion (PAEP) is temporarily closed for an expected period of 6 months to enable urgent repair works to be carried out.
NHS Lothian’s priority has been to minimise disruption and to ensure that all inpatient and outpatient appointments will continue and patients continue to be seen and treated throughout this period.
Eye services have been distributed across five NHS Lothian sites and will be supported by other services such as pharmacy and imaging on each of these sites.
Patients requiring access to urgent, unplanned care will be referred to the Lauriston Building, across the road from the PAEP.
Patient appointment letters for planned care will give details of the location of appointments.
Patient Support
Changes to existing appointments have been communicated to patients individually by phone, text or letter, or by a combination of these. New appointment letters and texts messages will automatically contain the new appointment locations. All communications use accessible and large fonts.
